I am a Second Act Actor
I first heard this term used by Audrey Moore on her podcast, Audrey Helps Actors. It is used to describe those of us who have come to an acting career later in life or after working in other fields. It fit my circumstances perfectly, and I’ve realized there are probably more of us now than there have ever been. The effects of COVID-19 on the workplace, the ‘Great Resignation’, the emergence of self-tape submissions as an industry standard, etc. have all increased our numbers.
With this in mind, I decided to start secondactactor.com. While the bulk of my efforts will be devoted to building my career, my hope is to use this platform to share my experience, strength, and hope and to “lift as I climb” as so many others have done for me.
There will be links to resources I’ve found helpful, events that have shaped my journey so far, and hopefully input from other Second Act Actors.
I plan to update the site weekly and fine tune as I go. Please be patient as I have no idea what I’m doing. However, that’s never stopped me before!
If you’d like to contribute a resource, comment, experience, etc., please feel free to email me at contact@barryclifton.com
